More new art

One of the perks of being an artist (specifically digital-based artist) is that when the holidays roll around, you don't have to spend tons of money on gifts when you can just make 'em! So check out what I made for a buddy of mine who LOVES Godzilla:

Also check out his website (that I made!).

More new art!

In the process of making that Imperial Army poster, I made a model of a TIE fighter that I ended up not using. So, I decided to make an Imperial Navy companion piece to go with it, check it out:

Yay inspiration

I've been browsing around for some art and artists to inspire me out of this creative rut I've been in, and in doing so found this:

http://erictanart.blogspot.com/

Eric Tan is an artist for Disney who does these awesome, retro-stylized posters for Pixar movies like The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Wall-E, check out some of his stuff:

Seriously, how cool is that?

Also, I'm currently working on a Star Wars themed-poster, and even made my own 3D model of a stormtrooper to use, check it out:

I just realized...

I didn't really learn anything in art school. I didn't learn anything about color theory, or composition, or how to express myself, or anything along those lines. I realized that this afternoon as I was using Illustrator (a program which I honestly have no right putting on my resume... I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with it), and was having a hard time setting up the composition that I wanted and thought "shouldn't I have learned this in... I dunno... ART SCHOOL??" The more I look at the diploma on my wall, the more I realize that it's just a piece of paper and that in the 3 years I was at the UT art school, I didn't really learn anything that I couldn't have figured out on my own that's relevant to what I do/what I want to do.

Big News!

It's been a while. So here's the deal! I redesigned my website again, so it looks a lot more slick and professional now, let me know what you all think!

Also! I recently completed animating a commercial for a local toy store, check it out:

Note: All I did was the animation. I didn't do the audio and the captions were most certainly NOT my idea.

And I know it's a couple weeks late, but I had to make this:

Yes we did.

Renamed my website

So I came to the realization that "outsiderzero" sounds a little too angry-high-school-kid-ish, I have renamed my website www.patrickkingart.com. outsiderzero.com will go to the same place, but the site is now called patrickkingart.com, so update your bookmarks and such.

Big project coming!

Okay, so Derek, the guy who runs Funny Papers (the comic shop I go to), asked me to spray paint a bunch of my designs in the store. ON THE FLOOR. AT THE FRONT WHERE YOU FIRST WALK IN. How cool is that??? So starting this Saturday evening, I will be painting a few designs at a time, and it'll probably be done in a week or two. Lots of pictures to come!

Spray painted posters

I've had these for a couple months now (they were the main part of my showing at Amy's last month), but I finally took some pictures. So here, for your viewing pleasure, are my spray painted posters based off of the designs I've posted before:
